Abstract:
For more than a decade, the Centre of Buddhist Studies at the University of Hong Kong has been promoting projects related to Buddhist Counselling; and has initiated, in 2018, the first Masters program of Buddhist Counselling in Hong Kong, with the goal of fostering professionals in this domain. In the academic research, the centre has designed and written counselling methodologies that are rooted in Buddhism. The centre has also used the latest technology such as electroencephalogram (EEG) to verify the efficiency of the counselling. The outcomes are promising. This lecture presented the research outcomes and the courses related to Buddhist Counselling in the Centre; as well as its applications in society and its future development.
The one-day lecture forum was broadcasted online via centre’s Facebook and YouTube livefeed, and was recorded. The videos gardnered high number of viewings: AM video 2083 views; PM video 1030 views on HKUCBS Facebook, and 3286 views on HKUCBS YouTube channel.
