In a time of ongoing reconfiguration of the global academic landscape and deepening cross-civilizational inquiry, Buddhist Studies—as a vital field connecting Asia and the wider world—is receiving renewed attention for its theoretical and methodological significance. Buddhism has not only served as a foundational intellectual resource within Asian civilizations but has also played a profound role in processes of transregional exchange, institutional formation, and cultural interaction across history. How to respond to contemporary scholarly methods and theoretical concerns while remaining grounded in classical traditions and textual foundations has become a central question for the field today.

To promote multi-level global collaboration and methodological innovation in Buddhist Studies, and to cultivate emerging scholars with rigorous academic training and international perspectives, the Glorisun Global Network for Buddhist Studies announces the 2026 International Intensive Summer Program for Buddhist Studies. Outstanding students and early-career researchers worldwide are warmly invited to apply.

The 2026 program will be hosted by the Center for the Study of Buddhist Texts and Art at Peking University, co-organized by the University of British Columbia and Zhejiang University (Center for Asian Civilizations and Faculty of Arts), and held at the Mount Kuaiji Advanced Institute for Buddhist Studies in Shaoxing.

This program seeks to establish a high-level, international academic platform that fosters sustained dialogue across scholarly traditions, strengthens the integration of classical Buddhist textual studies with interdisciplinary methodologies, and promotes collaboration among philology, intellectual history, art history, archaeology, and regional civilization studies. Its long-term aim is to cultivate a new generation of scholars who will contribute to the sustainable development of Buddhist Studies worldwide.
