Prof. Ma De, Senior Researcher at the Dunhuang Academy, gave a special lecture at the Center on the Craftsmen of Dunhuang and their methods of constructing Buddhist caves. The discussion focused of the “image” of the ‘craftsmen’ as seen through textual sources and archeological findings, including the painted murals of Dunhuang.
